Mt. Shisha Pangma
Expedition 2026
The Matterhorn of the Himalayas, technical masterpiece at 8,027 m
Shisha Pangma, the world’s 14th highest peak, is situated directly north of Kathmandu, entirely within the Tibetan Himalayas. Known as Gosaitan in Indian-Nepalese culture, it signifies “The Holy Place”. In Tibetan, the mountain is called Xixapangma, meaning “The mountain that looks over the grassy plains”.
Shisha Pangma, standing at 8,027 meters, is often considered one of the easier 8,000-meter peaks to climb among the Himalayan giants. This relative ease of ascent makes it appealing to mountaineers who are looking to step up to higher-altitude challenges after gaining experience on lower peaks
